Slow Computer speed

I am using computer from very long ago. This is never happened with me. Once when I am working on my computer, then it’s too slow speed of it. If I am trying to open anything on my computer it takes too much time to get open. And I have to click on icons several times before the computer takes action. It also freezes up allot. Please anyone help me to reduce this problem. Is there anyone have resolution for this trouble?
