Enabling MKV Thumbnails in Windows 7

I was working with Windows Vista operating system previously. Now, I have upgraded to Windows 7 and have started facing problems with it already. The issue is with the MKV thumbnails, that were being shown correctly in the older operating system that I was using. I am not able to view it in Windows 7. So, I need some information on enabling MKV Thumbnails in Windows 7.

Kindly provide some help on this topic as soon as possible.

Re: Enabling MKV Thumbnails in Windows 7

It is been noted that the ones who have upgraded the Windows 7 operating system from the older ones are having the problems with the MKV Thumbnails in Windows 7. This is because the problems that are existing in the older system files are transferred to the upgraded system also. Thus, it is suggested that the upgradation of the operating systems must be avoided. So, format the system and do a clean install to fix the issue.

On searching the internet, I found that there are some softwares and applications available in the market for the purpose of enabling MKV Thumbnails in Windows 7. 2 of them are as follows:
    1. Divx installer
    2. K-Lite codec pack

Well, there is need to do specific settings while using any of these softwares for the required view. I have tried using both of them in my system with Windows 7 and they work fine without any issues.

The softwares given in the above post by SalVatore for enabling MKV Thumbnails in Windows 7 can work with this operating system only if they are compatible with the operating system. For this, the new versions of these softwares need to be used. They will be compatible with Windows 7 because all the new applications and softwares released are taken care tat they must have no issues with all the platforms available in the market.

It seems that there was a problem while the Windows 7 operating system was installed. This is the reason that the issue of enabling MKV Thumbnails in Windows 7 is being encountered. You have 2 choices, that is you can ignore the thumbnails preview or simply reinstall Windows 7 from a new copy. But, that will be a waste because you will be doing it for just the thumbnails.

Install K-lite Mega Codec Pack First Then ,
set ffdshow as the preferred decoder for H.264 video. First make sure that H.264 is enabled on the Codecs page in ffdshow video decoder configuration. Then use the Win7DSFilterTweaker tool to set it as the preferred decoder in Windows 7.

After you have changed the settings, you need to reboot to make the settings take effect in Windows Explorer. You may also need to clear the thumbnail cache.
