Backup Encryption Key Prompt in windows 7

I am running windows 7 home basic prior to this i was using windows Vista. I always get a prompt at startup which suggests to backup encryption certificate. When i checked this it sounds like this prompt started appearing after you encrypted your first file although. But the thing is that i have not Encrypted a single file knowingly it may have got encrypted by mistake. please help me how to go about this problem.

Whenever you turn on Bitlocker for the operating system driver. It will scan your whole system in order to provide protection at system startup. Howerver the user is not able to see this procedure as this all goes in the back ground. Also the user logon experience remains unchanged. If you still have doubts then reply again.

You will not find any change in the logon screen at startup if your bitlocker is on. Hence if you have a single partition in the operating system drive. Bitlocker will prepare the drive by compressing it and then it will create a new 300 MB system partition to use for system files that are required to start or recover the operating system and that cannot be encrypted. this drive will not have any drive letter so that you do not store a file on it by mistake.

Thanks for replying me but I have checked my bitlocker and it is not turned on. As you mentioned that the encrypted bitlocker drive is a new 300 partition without any drive letter. Hence there is no question that the bitlocker i put some of the files in the encrypted drive. I am still getting those prompts please suggest a new solution.

I think you need to recover a file as loose access tom some file by upgrading the existing the earlier version of the operating system to a newer version. Also If your current operating system fails. Simply you need a backup copy of the encryption key and the related certificate on any portable media like the USB pen drive.

As far as i know you can get rid of this problem by using the Cipher.exe tool which will display all the encryption of folders and files on NTFS volumes. In order to achieve this follow the steps listed below:

    * Open start menu and type cmd and press Enter.
    * this will open up the command prompt window write "cipher /u" in the command prompt window without the double quotes.
    * Now locate to the above encrypted folders.
