Windows 7 activation and antivirus installation should be in what order

Computer must be connected to internet first to activate Windows 7? But before the installation, there is no integrated virus (that I know). How did you do?

    1) save anti virus somewhere (downloaded from the internet ...)
    2) install Windows 7
    3) install the antivirus
    4) set the internet connection
    5) enable Windows 7

    or:

    1) install Windows 7
    2) set the internet connection
    3) enable Windows 7
    4) save anti virus somewhere (downloaded from the internet ...)
    5) install the antivirus

Microsoft is not clear on that. And provides links to the major antivirus vendors compatible with Windows 7.

The most important would not have antivirus software, which would only try to remove an infection already begun, but an OS update and free of flaws. You can connect a machine running Windows 7 to Internet directly, given the absence of known vulnerabilities for the moment.

Do not be paranoid, one PC has very little chance of being infected within minutes or hours of connection, especially if it is restricted to safe sites and downloads that avoids doubtful. Same for intrusion attempts.

I think that Windows 7 includes a basic antivirus known as Windows Defender, and in any case one can download a much better and is free Microsoft Security Essentials.

Furthermore, it is not required to activate Windows 7 immediately, it has 30 days to do it, and meanwhile Windows 7 works perfectly.

At worst, you installed Windows 7 and then you turn virus 1 (or 2 for no antirvirus reaches 100% detection rate). Upon detection of the virus impossible to remove, you have to again perform a new installation from scratch.

Yes currently not fault known to operate on Windows 7 therefore both procedures are apparent. You will not catch the virus during 5 min till you download your antivirus, so do not worry. But just remember to disable Windows Defender after installing a new antivirus, never install and run 2 antivirus on the same machine at a given point of time! Its dangerous!

Especially as now, almost all the routers/modems from any ISPs operate on the model of NAT, so your freshly installed machine is not directly accessible from the internet. On my part, since 3 years that I have an antivirus program that I use has nothing (0 alerts) but I keep one for safety. So you have plenty of time to do your Windows Update before installing antivirus
