Windows Temporary Files (Temp files) store Windows and other programs temporary files. In MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows, the temporary folder is set by the environment variable TEMP. Originally the default was c:\Temp, then %WINDIR%\Temp. Windows Temporary Files directory can become cluttered and contain files from programs you no longer have installed or files which may violate your privacy.
Start the registry editor >Move to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment Double click on the variable, e.g. temp and edit the value. Once complete click OK >Close the registry editor, another method to change the temporary memory in windows go to Control Panel, System Advanced and click on 'Environment Variables'.Set both tmp and temp to D:\Temp and create a new Temp folder on D.
