dplay.dll was not found

Hello, i got my hand on the copy of doom, which i gladly installed it , when i tried to run it , Everything got doomed, as i got a error message ,

the error message is as follow
the application has failed to start because DPLAY.DLL was not found

please help me solve this problem, thanks in advance

Retrieve the DLL cache in Windows

By using Explorer or My Computer, go to the following directory:

C:\Windows\System32\dllcache


Select the DLL corresponding to that demanded by the system, copy it and paste it into the parent directory (C:\Windows\System32).

to select it. On the right side of the window, right click on the name of the DLL missing. In the menu that appears, click Copy.

you have to First download the Dplay.dll File from the internet the Either you have to paste it into system32 folder of your windows directory or maybe o just into your game folder. One of those method should work. Then again I have never had the game...this is just based on issues I have had in the past with missing files for other games or apps.

First check your directx Version , It is quite easy to find your current version of DirectX: Click the Start button and select "Run." Enter "dxdiag" and click "OK" to start the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. The version of DirectX used by your system is the latest information in the "System".you might probably will be having the directx10 version as the dplay.dll file was removed in that version , so you might be needed to install the earlier version of DirectX 9.0C , doing this may solve your problem
