    Mountmgr.sys damaged

Hello, I have a problem with the laptop to a friend. After off normally, I have managed to turn.I get "the following file is missing or corrupt: \ WINDOWS \ system32 \ config \ system" that appears. When I put the Windows CD, I can not until a choice until the following message appears: "Mountmgr.sys file is corrupted."

I tried to replace these 2 files but it did not change, someone can help me?

This computer is running Windows XP

    Re: Mountmgr.sys damaged

    Try installing a new Mountmgr.sys
Here is a link to download: http://djino.net/mountmgr.sys

Copy this file to a floppy disk and copy / paste it from DOS
To restart in DOS, tapping on the F8 button to start your computer (it is sometimes F5), and chosen the "command prompt" from the list of different types of boot that you propose.
(You can also create a boot disk MS-DOS from another computer but it is not necessary for your problem)
In short, once in the command prompt, type this:

    a: \ Mountmgr.sys c: \ windows \ system32 \ drivers / y

Once your Mountmgr.sys has been replaced by that you highlighted in the floppy. If the cause of your concern is well that this file is corrupted, it should solve your problem.
