Norton shows Windows PC is port scanning Mac

My mac book is using Norton Internet security from Comcast. I am also using a Windows PC which too making use of Norton from Comcast. As you know having 2 computers means there must be LAN connection or some other type of connection between them. It is a good thing that both systems are connected each other but there is an issue also. When I start up my Mac the NIS shows me that vulnerability has blocked from the IP address which is situated in my Windows PC. The vulnerability is port scan and the utility is m/mach_kernel. I don’t know why the PC is scanning the Mac ports. Is it the default behavior of Windows while linked with Mac? How can I fix this issue?

I think that somehow the windows need to automatically get connected with your Mac without any prompt or authentication. This is almost certainly risk-free local network communications. Which port that Windows is scanning? Is it trying to open that illegal port? What is the block rule called up? If both the systems are in local network then you don’t need to worry about it much but be cautious while connecting your private network to the internet. There might be some risk about port scanning.

There are more than a few Windows gears that may possibly formulate blameless callouts to each and every one appliance on a network, and a number of these might be looked upon by Norton on the Mac as portscans, from the time when the Mac did not commence the connection. Devoid of supplementary particulars concerning the attentive from your Firewall register it's inflexible to be acquainted with what strength is originating it.

I think that there must be some kind of malicious payload in your windows computer which has a unique feature of scanning and opening ports when the computer is online. Most of these payloads have been created for the intention of DDOS attack so that the attacker can get the access of every computer and then together attack on any web server he/she aimed for. This is the one reason. You need to find out what application is causing this if you have installed any third party software for scanning ports.

Windows, seeing as vista, is awfully chatty on LAN. By far it is not scanning ports of Mac, though; it's distributing the accessibility of services, e.g. a printer. A bunch of the services that are resting on be defaulting are completely needless. One is a network supported media server. There's too a multicast check that I have been incapable to blackout exclusive of via the sophisticated firewall (windows) and prohibiting it. At last we can say that it is the default behavior of Windows OS.
