Windows 7 64-bit cannot ping or connect to Exchange server

Hello there, I am facing some problems while connecting my computer to the Exchange 2007 server. I have Windows 7 x64 installed on my computer but for some reason the computer does not connect to the Exchange 2007 server. The server name and the domain name are resolved correctly but I am not able to ping the exchange server. So if anybody know why Windows 7 64-bit cannot ping or connect to Exchange server, then please share some information.

Check if there are any firewall installed on the computer? All the firewalls and security software work on the basic rule of blocking all the unknown traffic originating or terminating the on the computer. Due to this tendency, sometimes the traffic which is desired by the user is blocked by the firewall. Therefore check if the firewall is blocking the traffic or not. Try moving the process of the Exchange server to the trusted applications of the firewall and then try to ping. You can also try and disable the firewall of the computer to see if it helps.

Try disabling the IPv6 support of Windows 7 operating system. The default IP version of Windows 7 operating system is IPv6 which sometime create problems while accessing some devices on the network. To disable the IPv6 support of Windows 7 operating system, right click on the network connection and select properties. Right click on LAN and select properties. Go to TCP/Ip utilities and then select properties. Now remove the check mark from the option which says "Enable IPv6 support". Save and apply the settings. Check if you are able to ping the exchange server or not.

You will have to disable the UAC on the Windows 7 x64 machine and then check if the exchange server can be pinged or not. Follow the steps below to disable the UAC (User account control) in Windows 7 :-
    1. Click on Start and select Control panel.
    2. Type UAC in the search box.
    3. Now drag the slider to lowest possible position.
    4. Save and apply the settings.
Now ping the Exchange server and see if it works or not.

I think the drivers for the network adapter are not installed on the computer due to which you are not able to ping the Exchange server. The devices which are connected to the computer require a set of driver softwares to be installed on the computer. Drivers act as a mediator between the operating system and the device. If the appropriate drivers are not installed on the computer, then the devices will not work properly. To check if the proper drivers are installed on the computer, right click on my computer and then select Device manager. Click on Network adapter and see if the drivers are installed or not. You can also try and update the installed drivers.

It is possible that the application which is installed on the computer is corrupt and hence it is creating such problems while accessing it. The applications which are installed on the computer have lot of files which are associated to it. If any of the files which is associated to the application is corrupt or missing on the system then the application will not work properly. Uninstall the exchange server from the computer and restart it. After restarting the computer, check if the application is working properly or not.
