Virus Scanning locks up my computer

Hello , Currently i am using the windows 7 but before this i was happily using the windows xp. Even i used the windows 7 also for some day. Yesterday i just put my computer on virus scan and then went for some personal work for one hour. Coming after 1 hour i found my computer displaying the white screen and it was like hanged up there. No option was working to come out of the scanning process. Finally i had to restart the computer. Can anybody solve this ?

Always Switch off your all the task happening on your computer whenever you are scanning your computer. Because scanning takes large amount of memory from the CPU. As it takes large amount of memory if your computers specifications are low then it may happen that your scanning locks up your computer because of unavailability of RAM or hard disk space.

Do not be worrying as this seems to be the some problem with your hardware. First of all let me inform you that Windows 7 needs higher configurations as compare to windows XP. As you said you were using xp earlier then you switched to the latest one. Make sure that your hardware is compatible with the corresponding operating software. Another solution that you can use is that keep your scanning process in two parts, by doing this scanning process will take lesser usage of your hardware.

You did not mentioned that which anti virus system you are using. Anyway, sometime it may happen that if you are using the trial version of anti spyware or your anti spyware is not updated then it stops the scanning process in between. But when it has been stop, it keeps your spyware running the scanning but itself spyware has been stop. In short, some Unending loop has been created which can end only by switching it off externaly.
