Linksys printer sharing problem

I am using Windows XP on my laptop which is directly connected to my Linksys WRT54GS router. I have also connected 1 HP printer to this router via a CAT 5 cable. We want now to connect 2 desktop computers to this router wirelessly and then allow the 3 computers to share the HP printer. But now here is my problem. How can share my printer with all the computers connected to Linksys router?

There are many things that you need to configure. First is that the printer should be configured to be shared. Then all your computers should be set up on a single workgroup. All the computers and even printer should have a fixed IP address. Optionally you can use some hardware firewall to protect your devices (computer + printer) from any malware infections or unknown access.

The printer should be configured as a network printer by assigning an IP address. Then share your printer on the network by going to Control Panel and right clicking on printer and then enable sharing. Once your printer is configured then you can just install the printer drivers on your 3 computers and easily use it.

Some tips while configuring your printer to be shared on Linksys router:

1. Turn off the firewall on the router.
2. Configure your firewall software on the computers to allow all packets from the router.
3. Reconfirm all your computers are getting the IP addresses from the router.
