To identify the brand, it's usually simple enough, this must be written in big letters on the card at all. Otherwise , remember to look also at the packing box , the manual or on the invoice, it can help ... If despite this you do not always know the brand of your motherboard, you can use the long number that appears at the bottom of the screen when switching on the PC. From this long number (example : 05/11/2001-8363-686A-6A6LMA19C-ZT ), we can find the name of the manufacturer of the motherboard .

To identify the model and version number of your motherboard , go take a quick peek under the last PCI or ISA bottom of the motherboard . You will find there is normally a label or an inscription indicating the exact model and the version number of the card. The version number is important because sometimes the same model of motherboard is available in several versions with very slight differences in hardware and thus requiring a different bios . The version number is often preceded by the character V or REV (for version or revision).

To identify the type of bios of the motherboard , you just have to look at the bios correctly . Name AWARD or AMI is usually written on a label that is also especially do not remove . The type of bios is also displayed at boot up on the first screen. It is also useful to know the current bios of your motherboard. In fact , do not bother to update bios if no update is available ! If anyone before you has flashed the bios , your motherboard has the first version of the bios is to say one that has been programmed at the factory ( often abbreviated to 00 ) .

To identify the current version of the bios ( usually represented two characters) , we will still have to use the first screen at boot time , check out the last two characters of the long number at the bottom . Please note that at the very beginning , we can see the bios build date by the manufacturer followed by the references of two chipsets (northbridge and southbridge) :Once all the information collected , it 'll just go download the latest bios available for your motherboard.

You should have written information on this latest , (sticker engraving ) .eeprom if not ( I know if it's spelled like that. it' chip black rectangle (usually bottom right ). If you look at your CM a little more ready, you 'll see that each medium has a number ( JLED1 , fan1 , .....) this doc, you will recover what it has matches and even what position they are connectors on each pin (+5 V , Gnd , ....). its all in a Word format ( or . doc if you utlise one other word processor.
