    AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core ZM82 performance

I have purchased a laptop which consists of AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core ZM82 processor. But I am thinking about its performance during my usability. I do a lot of photo editing work and a little bit gaming. So I would like to know if any one of you have used this processor and know how it performs? I am open to any comments.

It is very difficult to determine without knowing which laptop you are using. But it has been seen that AMD processors run much hotter than Intel processors on laptops. This is because many of the AMD's laptop CPUs are on 65nm and are not capable of the same level of idle power. You will find some of 45nm cpus but they are still using a lot of power than some similar Intel CPUs.

AMD designed Turion processors in competition with Intel's Core 2 line up. But they are not so fast when compared to Intel Core 2. But it is still better than Intel Atom processor. You should check with a software like cpu-z or amd power monitor to know the cpu power management.

Re: AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core ZM82 performance

Now a days people prefer to purchase dual core processors because its cheaper than others and provides a faster solution for laptop users. However if you have chosen Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core ZM82 then never mind, although it is slower than T6400 but that doesn't makes any difference. Otherwise if it is possible than I would suggest to exchange it with some 45nm Intel processor which consumes less power compared to most AMD processors. Also if you will be using it for photo editing work then you should definitely go for larger capacity RAM, may be 4 GB or so.

There is no need to change your processor at the moment. You can first test your laptop to make sure it is not causing you any problem. If there is no problem then that means you can stick with the configuration that you currently running on your laptop. So if it is possible then try using HWMonitor to check the temperature throughout your usage? You should also use GPUZ to check the GPU clock. Make sure the GPU Clock is lower when at idle.
