Change processor on MSI 6309 motherboard

I have an old assembled PC that has a MSI 6309 and runs under windows XP, the processor is a Intel Celeron 600 MHz.

I increased the ram of the PC with 3 slots and changed from 64 MB to 448 MB today 1280 MB then.

Now I would like to know if I can change the processor to improve the speed and therefore the implementation of programs.

I have no idea where to start, I do not know if this is feasible. I just ask you a helping hand to all that.

This is an old motherboard for Pentium III socket 370 with a FSB of 133MHz, so you can only go for old PIII processors.

Re: Change processor on MSI 6309 motherboard

Any P3 with socket 370 up to 1 GHz is ok BUT:

    1) NO "P3-S" or "Tualatin", or "XEON"

1b) No P3 "Slot1" either, not the same physical format.

    2) It will heat up more, the Celeron 600's fans might be difficult. Favors offers with radiator + fan correspondents provided.

    3) Put the BIOS update before changing the processor, if possible, so that the new recognition for sure.
