    Moving from AMD to Intel

I must change my config, reason being electrical damage happened last time. I was thinking early to buy a Phenom X4 9850 and Asus M3A-H equipped with Nvidia 780G, I made some research comparatively before ordering. What surprised me so much is that AMD is completely behind Intel.

So I reviewed my choices, and therefore chosen Intel's Q6600. Problem seems to me is that it have become old, and might left me to invest to buy a new after about a 1 month.

    So some questions:
    - Q6600, is it a good choice (in the race for performance) at the sight of future developments at Intel?
    - Can I get better with a budget equivalent (12000 max for the Processor)?
    - Remaining at Asus, what are the good chipsets available for a motherboard in Rs. 6800 max?

    Thanks for the quick response.

My use of computer: Games, Internet, Overclock, but above all I seek a powerful platform for the game since I play in 1920 x 1080 on a 40".

To use this, I would say Core 2 Duo E8400 rather than Q6600.

In the same price range (approx. 10000) you have more than perf in games, then you can draw little benefit of 4 Core. As a bonus it has a very good o/c
    potential.

But good performance in games in high resolution, it will mainly depend on your graphics card ...

For your use, Intel Core 2 Quad is useless. As said, E8400 would be more than enough. For graphics card, what are you planning for 1920 x 1080 resolution?

For the moment, I have my Radeon X1950XT and a subsequent HD4870, or the new ATI range, but I remain at ATI share if the perf / price decreases by then. So a Q6600 would be no, I guess it is rather reserved for multi-task. OK, I trust your choice and so what about 8400 in this case?

    That's right!

If you used to run multiple demanding applications at once or you do compression video or photo / video extensively, the Quad is a good choice
but usually when we play, it does nothing else at the same time. And in games, we need more power "gross" that flexibility ...

If you look (E8400 vs. Q6600) on user comments you will notice that the Core 2 Duo is doing better than the Quad, even where the number of core is an advantage. In games, the superiority of the E8400 is clearer still.

Finally, it is also a matter of budget. If you could take a Q9450 in place of a Q6600, it would be much more immediately. But it is almost two times more expensive than E8400.
