Screen goes black with 24“ LED Cinema Display.

I have one 24” LED Cinema Display and a 23” LED Cinema Display and both are attached to mini-display port of a ATI Radeon HD 4870. While watching, 23” Cinema Display works fine but 24” Cinema Display got a problem of being a black screen for a second or 2 second. I replace the product but the problem is still remaining same. I don’t know what is the problem but disturbing a lot. What I understood, perhaps it could be the problem of Video card or mini-display port.

I am having iMac Pro 2,66 GHz Quad and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 and giving the same problem. When I discuss this issue with Apple support, they told me about the short cable of signal and advice me to buy an extension for that. I bought it which is very expensive but the things now goes worst from the first reason and now it is giving me the problem like a black screen in a minute basis. Company like Apple should treat fair with its user.

Actually what Apple told you is the correct solution but I think the cable that you bought is also short in size because this happen to me also but when I buy a new adapter for that it is more than 2 meter or so and after attaching this, I didn’t get any black screen so far. Apple is very huge company and it also take care of its customer but the thing is Apple doesn’t know that what set up are you doing with, so they give a meter of wire to all its customer.

As the solution is told by the second one, it seems that you have bind your Apple provided cable with the one you bought from the market……if this is the scenario, then please remove it as Apple’s cable is very sensitive with interference with other wire. If this is the scenario then remove it and it could be the solution.

Yes! It really works. Actually I did bind the Display port and USB extension wire together and when I unbind it and place it separately, no black screen after all. This is the proper solution and yes apple’s wire is very sensitive with the other wire, attached with, so make all the wire free from each other. This will help to sort out with black screen problem. One more important fact is that always keep your system up to date by upgrading the firmware on each peripherals, this also help you from keeping you away from small problem, which even create sometimes very disturbance but the solution is very short.
