Graphics card for playing battlefield 3 at max configuration

I would suggest GeForce GTX 480 by Nvidia. It comes for $480 and it performs notably faster than the Radeon HD 5870, on average. It has some value-added features like PhysX, 3D Vision, and CUDA. It will easily allow you to play battlefield 3 and few other games on maximum configuration.

The 580 is easily the best single card under $500. However you can get much better performance other ways such as GTX 460s in SLi which performs the same as a 580 but costs $330 instead of $470. Even better while it's on sale you can get 2 GTX 560 non-Tis for $340. Depending on your resolution you might just need a GTX 560 or something.

In my opinion, EVGA 015-P3-1580-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) with 1536MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card. Make sure you have a very good psu from good brands like seasonic/Antec/Corsair. It has all the added features of Nvidia like PhysX and NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology.

The graphics requirement for battlefield is
    • CPU: Core i5-760 Quad 2.8GHz or Phenom II X4 965
    • RAM: 4 GB
    • GFX: GeForce GTX 460 or Radeon HD 5850
    • GFX RAM: 1GB

So I would recommend to with either of the graphics card mentioned above. There is no need to spend so much for a card just so that you can play a game on high configuration.

MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card. Three year warranty with features such as twin Frozr II Thermal Design, MSI Afterburner overclocking utility, PhysX & 3D Vision Surround technology and a all Solid Capacitor. It’s the best graphics card under $500 and of course, you can play battlefield with top-end configuration.
