New games on NVIDIA SLI vs ATI CrossFireX

I am about to buy a new computer system which would be mostly used for the gaming purpose. I have almost decided the specifications for my desktop computer system but now only I have left with is the graphic card. Actually I have got confused between the NVIDIA SLI vs ATI CrossFireX. Actually I am gonna play all the latest games with the high graphics so can anybody tell me that how these cards are performing for playing the new games. Which GPU i should buy for the best performance.

According to me, Both of these cards would be performing almost similar for playing the latest games but still there would be many game's graphics which would be showing some different effects by using these graphic cards such as World of Warcraft or Dead Rising 2. I would be recommending you to go with that graphic card which would be best suitable to your new desktop system. You may consider the future upgrades or changes that you might be doing with your system where these GPUs shows problems with the upgrades.

I have seen some people playing the latest games with the Crossfire and they have said that they are facing some drivers issue which is most important when you add up any hardware on your system. If your system won't be having proper drivers for the same then it would be of no use as you won't be able to use your graphic card up to its optimum usage.

Re: New games on NVIDIA SLI vs ATI CrossFireX

Both SLI and CrossFire are now mature and become suitable for the mass market. No wonder that an ATI and Nvidia would prefer to see in any computer with 2 graphics cards. How about even with three or four GPUs in one PC? No problem! ATI introduced this year at the computer fair "CrossFire X", with which it is not only possible to use up to a maximum of four GPUs in parallel, but in addition also all Radeon HD 3800 cards mixed with each other. And Nvidia has slept little in the development and well presented (to the less glorious GeForce 7950 GX2) for the second time "Quad SLI" with which one can make four GPUs in parallel rendering for ATI as (And so much already in advance: in other as Quad-SLI on a GeForce 7950 GX2 SLI does the "new" Quad in many games, too.).

I would be suggesting you to go with an ATI which has Hybrid Graphics Support. Hybrid Graphics means that the discrete graphics cards can be combined and integrated to either improve performance (CrossFire) or power-efficient to operate. The office use will only work with the integrated graphics unit, while the discrete graphics card in idle mode remains. If more power is required to turn on the discrete graphics card and does the necessary work. Hybrid Graphics is only in the low-end segment of the 3300/3400-Serie available.

Re: New games on NVIDIA SLI vs ATI CrossFireX

The first generation of Quad-SLI was struggling with the specifications of DirectX 9, so was the hybrid mode between Split Frame Rendering (SFR) and Alternate Frame Rendering (AFR) is necessary, but all the others worked out effectively. Particularly complex shaders, inter-frame effects and multi-pass rendering made the split frame rendering to create. With 4-way AFR will now benefit even complex geometries, textures, and shader processing of the additional graphics power whereas Quad SLI will be available just like 3-Way SLI only on motherboards with NVIDIA chipset.
