    Notebook Powermizer Issues

    Hello everyone,
This morning I installed the driver 176.44 from Dell to replace my 174.31 that had the PowerMizer disabled and enabled on AC battery. Except that after installing my new driver, there is the message that I am getting on my screen is to disable PowerMizer. I am not having much knowledge about the PowerMizer. Do you have a solution to this in order to disable PowerMizer..?? Also please provide more information about the PowerMizer, since I an newbie to this topic.!!

I would like to suggest you to try 179.28 or 179.48 version, two official Nvidia drivers for laptops, and PowerMizer works properly with them. Also you don't need to go for PowerMizer switch. If not for this switch, check if you have a good start the software in administrator mode. Hope that your problem get resolved.

While talking about the PowerMizer, these are additional performance based on the new GeForce Go 7 architecture. Better yet, these increases in performance are obtained without using more or dissipate more heat than the previous generation GPU. Moreover, most of our launch platforms use the same thermal solution as the GeForce Go 6800 Ultra. A feat made possible by the impressive increases in performance per watt GeForce Go 7 architecture and the sophistication of the very successful NVIDIA PowerMizer technology, key to lower heat dissipation and a maximum battery life.

There are some tools to test for actual differences in performance between different PowerMizer settings. The device that was used to measure in real time, what benefit could be drawn from different settings PowerMizer. To test PowerMizer, we put an ammeter between the AC adapter and the notebook and used a line tester to monitor the consumption of notebook when he works. The location of the ammeter between the AC adapter and the notebook has allowed us to monitor the consumption of the entire system in real time. During the test, we removed the battery.

When PowerMizer is set to "Maximum Performance", the GeForce4Go receiving the maximum possible current. The current of the whole system was 2.1 A and AC power source was 20 volts. To obtain the total consumption in Watts, simply multiply amps by volts which gives us 42 Watts. With PowerMizer set to medium (middle setting), the GeForce4Go turns in a balanced mode in use. The current of the whole system was 1.87 A and the AC adapter had a power source 20 volts. To obtain the total consumption in Watts, simply multiply amps by volts which gives us 37.4 Watts.

To extend the battery life of laptops, has just introduced the NVIDIA PowerMizer, a new technology that allows laptop users to extend battery life through a system of power management integrated and flexible . NVIDIA PowerMizer technology will be used in laptops with the GeForce2 Go, Quadro2 (TM) Go and the next generation of GPUs. PowerMizer reduces the power consumption of the system level by reducing the CPU load as well as saving power of the graphics subsystem. Instead the voltage increases to deliver maximum performance, PowerMizer employs a low voltage of 1.575V to reduce power consumption while delivering optimal graphics solution. According to Nvidia, this technology can halve the consumption of the graphics chip.

The NVIDIA PowerMizer is a solution for intelligent management of energy available on all graphics processors (GPUs), NVIDIA. It increases the battery life and reduce energy waste, while delivering performance on demand even mains. The following are the Key Benefits :
    • Extends the life of the battery
    • Adapted from an intelligent performance as required in order to save energy even when the laptop running on AC.
    • Runs in the background to ensure the best balance between performance and life of the battery
    • Allows laptop to run cooler and make less noise in normal conditions by dissipating less heat in the GPU

    Re: Notebook Powermizer Issues

Monitoring hardware and intelligent software manages the use of consumption to several parts of the GPU. When processing unit is not used or is not required to run at full speed, these devices will put them to rest. It happens so fast that the user will realize no change in performance but will be reassured to know that consumption is preserved. The main objective of the PowerMizer technology is to optimize energy use to increase the lifespan of a laptop battery while providing the performance needed to run a task. Some office applications like word processing and spreadsheets require less processing power than when you play a 3D game art or looking at a high-definition video. PowerMizer technology that intelligently adapts to meet the performance needs of the application.
