I think this might be your video card or the ram , try to remove you ram and video card and put them back , check the connection of them properly .or it could be running at the wrong resolution, try to change it .

Here is a little you can try to bring back your display if it is having issue with the resolution:let your pc get started and then try to put in hibernation mode by holding down the Fn key and pressing F1.when it is in that hibernation mode and it is completely off now turn it back on , now if it stay on there are no problem if it turn off go for the dell guys , continue select Properties and right click it from the pop-up menu. now just change the Display Properties and restart the pc .
    Hope it helps

    Xps m1210 Fixed.

My m1210 got the black screen and after reading a few forums i figured out it is the motherboard. I called the Dell support but I couldn't convince them to do the repair for me.

Then out of desperation I followed a crazy crazy suggestion on some forum. I disassembled my laptop. took the motherboard out and put it in the OVEN for 3 minutes each side (315 F)

Right you didn't read wrong, oven. What happens the solder dots crack and if that is the case the high temperature helps those cracked solder dots to go back to their original form. Amazing, I am so happy it is been 2 weeks and works perfect, Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, right. it is really cool. Oven the motherboard and it is fixed.

Make sure it is an oven and not a microwave oven

The crazy oven deal actually worked. I am amped. I havn't touched my laptop in over a year sense if went black. I started looking into it and found this idea about putting it in the oven. Its logical even if it seems absurd. I found an awsome tutorial to dismantle the XPS 1210 here

I learned a lot about the inner workings of my laptop and its the first time I have seen anything on the screen in a long time.

Thank you for the post and remember, ovens are not just for cooking.
