Unrecognized CD ROM device on Windows XP

My CD ROM cannot be detected by Windows XP. To check for this, I opened the device manager and there below the heading of CD/DVD drives I found:

    SBOT KHM7C9URS SCSI CdRom Device

I am not able to find any such device in my computer or even I don’t hear that any such device exists in my computer. I am actually bothered regarding this device. It uses the drivers redbook.sys and px20help.sys. Is there anybody who knew about this issue and can tell me that how can I solve this problem?

This may be the problem with the virus attack on your system. You should try to run the AV scan or Malware scan. The name you told sounds like a virtual drive but I have doubt about the name Sbot. Have you installed any software for ripping and burning? This issue may be also because of that. Just remove that software if installed and see whether that solves the issue or not?

I was also facing the similar problem earlier and was wondering for the solution but was not able to find the correct answer for that. Finally I found that this is because of the software named daemon tools installed on my computer. I removed that from my computer and this removed the scsi cd/dvd rom device. This makes me understand that the Windows XP takes the virtual drive as the real piece of hardware. You should also do the same if you have installed this tool.

You can try to run the new hardware set up wizard and see whether that is able to recognize CD ROM for you or not? Windows has this inbuilt utility for this and it’s very easy to use. Just follow the onscreen instructions and you will be easily to do this.I wish that this will solve the issue.
