eSATA did not work with DP55KG

I have installed the windows 7 on my CPU which contain DP55KG motherboard. I brought the external eSATA hard disk drive for the backup purpose. Problem I am facing right now is the eSATA ports are not working on my computer. Is there any special setup to do with these ports? If there send me the procedure. If it had other problem then send me the reason of it. Will it be the driver related problem?

The reason behind your problem is you haven’t played with the BIOS setup. Sometimes the eSATA port responds to only to the RAID mode. So you have to correctly setup the BIOS configuration. Otherwise the external drives will not be detected and gives you the error message. To solve this troubleshooting – update the BIOS to its newer version. At the time of boot enter the BIOS configuration setup (Press F2). In the SATA section set the mode to RAID and discrete SATA controller to Enable. After save and exit the setup.

eSATA or external Serial Advanced Technology Attachment is computer bus for the external connectivity such as hard disk. Download latest BIOS, chipset and RAID controller (Marvel). Some time the newer versions may recognize the eSATA. Enable the Raid mode. Install the Marvel RAID controller drivers. Check in your system device driver that the newer updates are installed correctly or not.

You have posted that you installed the windows 7. There might be a bug in windows os 7 which is causing eSATA ports. Have tried your external HDD on other system SATA ports? Update the latest windows 7 pack first. Never chipset may not hardly recognize it. So install the latest chipset driver P55 ( INF ver. 9.1.1.1022). Either the strange behavior of windows or board will not able to detect the external hard disk.

After spending several times regarding your issue I found something. If you have an eSATA port contain front case, then use this connectors because this works fine. The both red and blue connectors use different drivers. The rear eSATA connected together to internal SATA connectors which are practically different controllers. Due to this problem the connection is not recognized.

The problem was your windows 7 CD did not contain the drivers of eSATA controllers or maybe you have forgotten to install it. When you are installing the windows there is an option to install SCSI and RAID (press F6) drivers at the beginning. You can these drivers using motherboard driver CD. There you can also attach the external hard disk drive to its controller and can follow the same process. at the end of the process the system automatically recognizes external things.
