Brother Printer HL-2040 cannot installed in windows vista

I recently bought Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer. When i try to installed printer on machine (windows vista 64 bit operating system) it gives an message "Unable to install printer........". My driver cd is working properly.Does anyone know what causes this issue and how to fix it?Any help will be extremely appreciated.

How you connect your printer with usb,serial, or parallel? If you are installing to windows vista or xp try using the NT drivers for your device instead.

These are just wild guesses:

Make sure the driver package is not corrupted, try downloading the latest version again from HP's site. Make sure the server is updated to SP4. Delete the printer you suspect is the issue (you can do one at a time until you find the culprit) then go to the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers] registry key and delete the corresponding printer there too, then re-install it. Try stopping & starting the Print Spooler service first.

There are possibility that Brother Printer HL-2040 in not installing in you system. The driver you are using is not compatible with your OS or driver may be corrupted. Try to download latest driver from manufacturer site.
