Laptop will not turn back on

hey i have a Dell Inspiron 1420 Intel® Pentium® Dual Core T2390 (1.86GHz/533Mhz FSB/1MB cache) it gives problem Display turns off after about fifteen minutes regardless of whether I am actively using the computer or not.
Running Windows Vista Ultimate.

After the laptop switched itself off the lights changed to:
*power cord plug symbol: orange flashing
*battery symbol: solid green.

I want to prevant my laptop from turning off!!

Can anyone offer any advice?

i have same problem my HP L1710 17" LCD Flat Panel Monitor goes off at every 15 minute. Under Power Options, I have 'Turn off the display' set to Never for both On Battery and Plugged in. Under 'Put the computer to sleep' I have both On battery and Plugged in set to never. Nonetheless, the display still shuts off.

This problem of your laptop shutting off itself usually means that you have a faulty power supply.You have to replace it or repair it from a repair center.

It Seems like overheating. You should clean fans inside the laptop. If you dont get any lights on, it might also be a power supply problem or connection inside laptop.

i've changed the plud end of the "inverter" and it made no difference , any idea how i can test the other bit?

I'm thinking maybe it's a RAM problem because it's turning itself off during the RAM tests, but it had no problem running the HDD test which took about 45 minutes.
