    FDI to connect SATA

I just bought a new computer, with dual-core, a new graphics card etc., but the problem is that my HDD and recorder are connected in FDI and I have only one IDE port on the motherboard while 4 Sata ports. So how to connect them! Are there any cable converters or any such things available for this purpose?

There exists some special cables for this purpose but those are not so reliable. They are also some what costly (if I remember rightly). In addition, the converter must be fed with a molex through the floppy.

There is also the solution of a PCI controller card. It is more reliable but not less expensive. The best, it would still take you to a new recorder SATA and they are priced moderately. This seems much more interesting.

For the HDD, you can still recycle two on the IDE port of your motherboard.

Otherwise there's cable Digitus for plugging the IDE / Sata in USB 2. It's reliable and it is also not too expensive.

It's funny, I would have advised the opposite. Keep in IDE burner and proceed to a Sata hard disk. As if you compare the recent time with 5 years ago between a DVD and a hard drive, there was a significant difference. But now with the continuous increase in the capacity of DVDs, there is not much difference remained between hard drive. And todays DVDs are all Sata only.

Ya It is clear from what you said. I agree.

Leaving on a config "up to date" and curb with an old IDE HDD is a shame.
But I think rather in terms of savings: a good SATA HDD still costs the price of 2 or 3 burners
