Then after clicking 'OK' it says, 'IDriver.exe - Application Error The exception unkown software exception (ox40000015) occurred in the application at location 0x7813461a. and then.. InstallShield 1628:Failed to complete installation. I tried re-installing the Windows Installer...not sure what to do next. I see you have 4!!GB RAM, and I have come across postings that had similar problems if their system was not 64bit. Something to do with the way the 32bit systems utilize the memory. On the other hand it seems that you have created a virtual drive with half of that memory. Disabling (un-installing) this virtual drive might help. May be Jimmy or Paul will know more. docphiliowa wrote: > Problem installing FSX: > > When the InstallShield Wizard is running, a pop-up box says "Miscrosoft > Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error! : Program: C... Hi Thomas, Well....Santa was kinda nice to me this year - maybe it is more computer than I need, but what the heck! Thanks for your reply - I will attempt to disable the virtual drive. | Re: Flight Simulator X: Install, runtime error, Installshield erro
Tried several things today: Deleted several unwanted programs. Researched the problem on consumer.installshield.com and re-installed version 11 of the InstallShield software. Tried to run install from files copied onto hard drive. I have read some references to files in C:Program Files\InstallShield... I have no such folder on my hard drive... not sure what that means or why it is... |

As I said in my previous post: it might be the enormous amount of RAM. Try to reduce it to 2GB by removing one or two modules, depending on the configuration. docphiliowa wrote: > Tried several things today: > > Deleted several unwanted programs. > > Researched the problem on consumer.installshield.com and re-installed > version 11 of the InstallShield software. > > Tried to run install from files copied onto hard drive. > > > I have read some references to files in C:Program Files\InstallShield... This is the path: C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield docphiliowa wrote: > Tried several things today: > > Deleted several unwanted programs. > > Researched the problem on consumer.installshield.com and re-installed > version 11 of the InstallShield software. > > Tried to run install from files copied onto hard drive. > > > I have read some references to files in C:Program Files\InstallShield... Yikes! I paid big bucks for this RAM - seems counter-productive to turn it off?!?!? I am looking into the InstallShield web site for answers... |

Thomas - Upon re-reading my post...not trying to sound unappreciative - it just seems the problem is somewhere with the Installer package or something... -- Just a guy "docphiliowa" wrote: > Yikes! > > I paid big bucks for this RAM - seems counter-productive to turn it off?!?!? > > I am looking into the InstallShield web site for answers... |

When I try to run 'dxdiag' I also get an error that dxdiag caused the runtime to close; but if I run it again and let it bypass the system info, dxdiag runs OK. |

A fresh install of DirectX might help. But I still believe it might be the memory exceeding 2GB, why not give it try? docphiliowa wrote: > Thomas - Upon re-reading my post...not trying to sound unappreciative - it > just seems the problem is somewhere with the Installer package or something... > |

Thomas, Now I discover that I get runtime errors when I try to uninstall the WinkFlash photo manager, when I try to run dxdiag, and when I try to open the download for directx update. It seems the problems run deeper....I will try RAM removal next week. |

| Re: Flight Simulator X: Install, runtime error, Installshield erro
Something seems to be wrong with the runtime. One possibility comes to mind: FS is a Microsoft game of the latest generation and might need the latest version of Microsoft.NET. NET includes runtime drivers and is not an automatic update. You will have to visit the MS update site and run a user defined update. This will show you additional, non critical, updates to choose from. One of them will be the new version of NET. Checking for viruses and malware won't hurt either. docphiliowa wrote: > Thomas, > > Now I discover that I get runtime errors when I try to uninstall the > WinkFlash photo manager, when I try to run dxdiag, and when I try to open the > download for directx update. > > It seems the problems run deeper....I will try RAM removal next week. > |

Thomas, My new computer is a Dell XPS, coming from a Inspiron laptop. I used PC Mover to move stuff from the old one to the new one. I suspect something in that process went awry. I did a clean re-install on the new system (including partitioning) - and it runs great. Thank you very much for your help on this matter. Phil |
