Memory problems detected with memtest 86 +

    Hello,
a colleague at work asked me to look at his computer restarts loop indefinitely at the time of testing at startup (when you turn on the PC and it says such processors, such as hard disk, memory, ...). impossible to access the bios because it requires a password that my colleague did not give me .

I managed (several times) to install windows XP on his computer but it looks very unstable (windows starts smoothly 1 in 2). I decided to pass Memtest86 + to see and there are obviously problems with memory.

I would like to know if the memory can be repaired or if the errors detected by memtest86 + must mean that my colleague bought new barettes memory.

The only solution is to change the card defective.
That would be too tedious to find the element (or elements) of a faulty RAM strip.

You can look here to find the right model of RAM:

the problem could it not come from a bad setting on the RAM in the BIOS?
But it is inaccessible because protected by a password. how can I go see?

Hello. You can always remove the bios battery for 2 minutes. This will all the default settings. For the password can be skipping it too

The problem may also come from PSU

If errors appear in MemTest must first focus on the ram ... I would say you try to reduce the frequency and / or timings but I think in this kind of BIOS it is not possible ... especially with a password .

There may be a little more detail on the configuration of the machine?
