It has become a common problem for HP pavilion laptops users to face major problems with their built in webcams. This could have been either due to a configuration problem or a problem with your driver.
For Windows Vista users
If you are using a Windows Vista operating system, this is what you can do:
1. Ensure that you are connected to the Internet and that you know the model number of your laptop.
2. connect to the HP website through the link http://h20180.www2.hp.com/...
3. After selecting your laptop model, click “Software & Drivers Downloads”
4. Hence, choose your operating system (in this case it’s Vista).
5. Choose the software update file that you need and follow the instructions.
I to have no webcam due to a update I believe. I do not see the device in Device Manager at all.I have tried all sorts of updates but cant get it back. Any ideas??
Alright, can you please first of all be clear as to what webcam and which laptop are you facing this problem? Which operating system have you installed in your laptop? Can you go to Device manager (control panel -> performance or maintenance (or system)/System / Hardware tab / Device Manager and then go to WEBCAM (HP Webcam) and uninstall the driver and after reboot reinstall it?
