Slow Internet connection with NETGEAR FS605 v2

Currently I am using a Netgear FS605 v2 switch. Now it suddenly shows up severe performance problems. The switch is configured behind the router in order to access the internet connection and other computer. Right now the switch is serving as a hub for 2 computers as well as 2 network computers. Whenever I access the internet I am getting slow connection. I can observe it completely when loading PDFs over the web. How to improve the connection speed here?

First of all you need to test you internet connection using the speedtest and see what speed you can have. In addition, it can sometimes prevent the download suddenly a lot slower through traffic on the network or server.

How long has it been slow?

Yes, an unmanaged switch connects "all stupidly" on the RJ45 network. On this switch you can then plug your PC. With the small difference in price in 10/100 and 10/100/1000, I advise you therefore a gigabit switch as the Netgear GS105 or 108. With this you can at least improve the transfer speed between your PCs.

If the speed of your broadband is unusually slow, there may be a series of technical problems. First, the fault could be the telephone exchange or its line, so call your ISP would be useless. Do not to use extension cords to connect the router to the ADSL filter. Use only the cable supplied with your router and make sure that the ADSL filter is plugged directly into the number. The shorter the cable is less likely that there are present line errors, no mistake.

The problem is not so great on the cable in the wall in connection with the auto-negotiation of router and switch. These do not work together they should likely lead to problems

When the router tries to synchronize with your broadband connection using a protocol that makes it examines a range of ADSL variants and connects using the best method it can find. Older routers may be connected to broadband using a method successfully but unsuitable. This means that as the first solution you could try the classic: off and switch on your router. This system does not affect the stability and speed of broadband, but it can help to synchronize with a more efficient protocol.

It seems that the router and the gigabit switch cannot agree about the speed that must be used. Is there a way you can on switch port to force 100Mbps?

Otherwise you can try the router to force it to 100Mbps full duplex to work with the Telnet command.
