I apologize if someone has addressed this issue previously in this forum. My computer is an HP Pavillion with Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3, installed. A USB hub is on the back of my computer and has USB cables for my scanner, MP3 player, backup hard drive, and eBook reader attached to it. All of these external devices have worked just fine, as far as I know, until the past couple of days. I first noticed that, when I plugged my MP3 player into a USB cable attached to the hub, the MP3 player would not charge. Then, I noticed my computer did not recognize my scanner. I unplugged the hub with the USB cables attached from the back of the computer and then unplugged the cables. Then, I plugged the cable back for the MP3 player.
It looked like, when I plugged the cable for the MP3 player into the hub and left the other cables unplugged, the computer was starting to recognize all my devices. Then, however, when I plugged in the cables for the other devices, Windows stopped recognizing the external USB devices. At the moment, the computer does not recognize any of the USB devices. I'd appreciate any help anyone might be able to provide. Thanks!
