I burned a CD with the suggested "XPSP3 with autorun" still get Error: autorun not found
Where are you trying to download it from, check the below link:

After that use any program like Nero to burn it to a ISO file. Also, the iso has an an autorun on it, so if all went right, it should autorun.
Thanks! Yeah, I got ISO from MS download site. Although it should contain "Autorun" I get "Error: Auiorun program not found." Burned it with Ubuntu's built in Disk Creator and burned it ultra slow. FYI the program you suggest does not appear to be compatible with my OS. Further advice most welcome.
It could be that the downloads might be getting corrupted. The MD5 hash of this file is xpsp3_5512.080413-2113_usa_x86fre_spcd.iso and it must be 308245853e5b231343ee17b36ffda1e6. So are you sure that it is the same MD5 hash as well for you?
Latest update: The burner you recommended doesn't seem compatible with my OS so I dwnlded & burned the prescribed ISO with the highly recommended KB3. Same Error: Autorun not found. So I dug out the old XPSP2 disc that came with my Dell, it booted! But this time I got an error telling me that my XP install was incompatible with the NTFS partition created with GParted (about 34GB).Please bring your holy water and crucifix and exorcize the demons from my too expensive electro-toy.
