TRUE IMAGE 10/ NORTON GHOST 12 which is better?

I want to backup my HP system. It has Windows XP on it. Now I am planing to upgrade to Vista. But before that I want to create a full system recovery disc of Windows XP. So that in case of any problem, it will be easier for me to restore all stuff back. I had used Ghost before, but my friend says that True Image is more better. I want some help to find the right one among True Image and Norton Ghost. What do you think, which one among is much better.

I am using Acronis True Image. It is much better. I am also using this on Vista. The difference that I had noticed among this too tools, is if you use Ghost then to run restore you need the exact hard drive size. While True Image can be restored on different partition also. That makes it more effective. Ghost looks limited to me. You can find more options in True Image.

I am using Ghost, but not willing to use some other. The reason with Ghost is that if the system is not restored properly you get constant bluescreen. Also there is no way to troubleshoot the file after installation. I have used Ghost a number of times before. I am looking for a bit more advance tool this time and hoping that True Image can provide me that features.

I do not trust Ghost. It is a kind of risky software. The most common issue I had found that as time goes on some of the image files that is created by it, becomes unstable. I do not know why, but this is a kind of fact that I had seen. Ghost is best when you run recovery from partition to partition. Or else it is very complicated to fix stuff with it. True Image on the same hand is very basic and easy to use. You just need to run a simple backup and restore your files. I am looking for a much better tool that can provide me restoration through bootable media.

I am using PowreQuest. I shifted from Norton Ghost. Because it is having the worst customer service. I think ample of customer care people does not have technical knowledge to help the users. They never revert back on your problem. I found PowerQuest as a nice and effective tool compared to Norton. Later on I shifted to TrueImage and till today I am using it. There are some backup features that I really like. And above all it has a user friendly interface. Going for a new edition will be much better.

You must choose the right tool for different Windows edition. If you are using XP then go for True Image, but if you are using Vista, then I think you must drop the idea of using it. It is always complicated to restore system on Vista because of incompatibility. Norton has released a compatible edition of Vista and it works fine. Other than this there are some better system restore software available which are capable of offering better features.

Vista has a internal image tool that you can use. It is control panel I think. You can create a complete system image file and then use Vista's bootable disc to restore it. You just need to click on Repair and there you can find option system recovery. It allows you to restore the image file instantly and get back your old OS as it is. I found this one effective. I do not use any third party software as they are doubtful.

What edition of Vista you are using. I do not think there is any internal image recovery software available. I prefer Acronis True Image on it. It is a much better software and is capable of providing nice restoration. If you want to keep your recovery image proper then just burn a DVD out of it. Depending on the size of Windows directory you can burn multiple disc and then use them for restoration. It allows you to have bootable restoration method. I had seen that a number of users keep the image file in internal partition which cause failure due to virus or bad sectors. I keep plane Windows copy with drivers only. I do not add additional software so that the recovery can be faster.
