XP computer appears on Vista network, but I can't access it !?

I have got a desktop computer that can be seen on the network map on my notbook but I am not able to access any files or printers. This desktop computer is running on Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and notebook is having Vista installed. I have also installed the "Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder" LLTD protocol on my desktop. Bot the computers are sharing the same workgroup and have different coomputer names. I have also turned on network discovery and also the file and printer sharing is enabled. I have disabled Norton 360 temporarily and also Windows Firewall is off. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you tell us what methods are you using to access the desktop's files and printers? Does anything happen when you try to access it, some sort of error message or so? Did you try going to the Network and Sharing Center and then have you made the right settings for file and printer sharing? Let us know about this.

When I go in Network and Sharing Center and then in full map, I am able to see an icon with the name of my desktop computer but nothing happens if I click on it? I am also using TCP/IPv4 and then network is set to private. Thanks for the reply.

Even I am facing the same issue. I am only able to see my desktop computer which is running on Windows XP with Service Pack 2 on the network when I click on View Full Map. But if I click on the icon of the desktop, then nothing happens, I have also set to private network and turned on the network discovery and file sharing but still nothing seems to be working in my case?
