i have this big problem with windows installer because when i add/remove
programs like itunes it says "the windows installer service could not be
accessed. this can occur if you are running windows in safe mode. (which am
not) or if the windows installer is not correctly installed. so, i came to
this website but nothing is working i tried downloading itunes but that too
came out "windows installer is not correctly installed. contact your support
personnele for assistance" so what could i do?

Not sure what WInstall advantages r but it was sure a PITA when I
tried to update JAVA.

simply uninstall the windows installer 3.1 from add remove program. It will repair this error and then reinstall the fresh windows installer 3.1
