Can you tell me about the system configuration? Which operating system do you running? Do you getting any error message while launching the game on the system? what is happening when you are supposed to double click on the icon of the QuickTime?

    iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.1), 3.4 GHz Quad Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz
QT icon is missing in the Application folder. As I am double click on the icon of the software I am getting small screen 'Terminal - Quick Time 80 x 24' with QuickTime icon on dock. As I have closed the screen the icon is disappeared from the dock.

Well I wanted to tell you that Terminal is system' command line interface application. If you have double clicked on the QT icon is opening the Terminal.app then I am sure that there is something wrong happening. Well I am wondering that there is something wrong with package contents.

It could be possible that the QT Player app or embedded QT structure which is damaged when trying to play the media file into alternative application.

    Re: Unable to start QuickTime

I wanted to tell you that the media file is not playing than the embedded QT structure might be corrupted. In case the media file is being played appropriately then the QT Player app package might be corrupted. If that is the case then I am suggesting that you should reinstall the QuickTime on the computer. still the problem is persisting than I am suggesting that official website and get the latest version of the QuickTime. Once you have done the same you should reboot the computer and see whether you are able to make the difference into the situation of yours.

    Re: Unable to start QuickTime

If "~/Library/Preferences" folder is not available into the PLIST file then the QuickTime app will not launch on the computer of yours. ‘~/Library/QuickTime’ not the PLIST folder but it is the file location where QT components which are installed by the users and add-on applications are installed.
If the above mentioned files are removed or deleted from the files will prevent the playing of the multimedia files which are having the associated codecs.

Looking at the matter I think there is need of clean reinstall of the operating system which you have installed on the system.

    Re: Unable to start QuickTime

It could be possible that QuickTime might be having the bug issue. Till the developers fixes the bug issue I am saying that you should get another VLC medial player and use the same. Once they have fixed the
Issue they will release the patch to fix the matter of yours.
