Hey guys, I have been wanting a new crm system for my company because the old crm which was built in-house doesn’t satisfies the needs of the company as it was built in COBOLT. I want to replace my software with a new one and want your recommendations for the same. I have a chain of pubs and clubs and currently only the technical staff is using the software but I want to expand it to other domains like finance, marketing, sales, etc.

Well, first you need to describe correctly what you exactly want in your crm. There are many modules to various solutions out in the market. However, as you said you own pubs and clubs I can suggest you few of the solutions. Well, you can try Microsoft Dynamics CRM or SAGE CRM, both them provide with you a free trial. SAGE has cross platform installation and on demand CRM i.e. you can access this software from your PDA or mobile software. Choose the modules carefully; only choose those which are actually needed.

In my new company we are using our own system and it is performing really well. The benefit of developing your own software is that you can customize it according to your need. You can hire a technical staff and a consultant so that you can converge all new technologies suggested by them and don’t make a mistake of building one in extinct languages like COBOLT. Also, as you have said that you are going to expand it then I would suggest taking a review from your own staff.

I would suggest going with the traditional and standard solutions like ORACLE, Microsoft or SAP. Also, you can try to think of SaaS if it implies for your business. I have a chain of restaurant and grocery store and this SaaS software is helping me in lot of ways. We use SAP here which will provide you with many functions like including stock control, sales report, product and price listing. They provide courses for your staff to learn and use the software effectively. But if you want software for a smallish company then I don’t think it would be worth wasting so much money and time. For that I would recommend going for a web solution so that most of your staff can work from mobile. This can be really save their time a lot.

I have been doing a lot of research on CRM over the years, trying different solutions and softwares. Went on developing an in-house project also but it did not work out that good as well. Finally, I laid my hands on salesforce and it has worked really well. I’m using it from approximately 3 years I guess and no problem. It works great with your other softwares and is highly customizable. And also, don’t use peoplesoft. I had a really bad experience with this software.
