Laggy videos and music on XP

recently i plugged in an external drive on my PC and it detected an autorun virus but Avira Free antivirus stated that its blocked and system is clean, but after that all kinds of videos including in youtube or downloaded videos lags so much very unwatchable and sound stops frequently lagging like a pirated DVD! someone can help me here please? thank you guys!

Probably it can be the cause of driver conflicts or Codes. Before going for core troubleshooting, i will suggest you to first try updating you sound driver. Also download and install Klite codecs. Better go with K-Lite Codec Pack 7.2.0. Try and reply with the player and browser you are using.

oh i have a k-lite pack already installed! applications like video games does the same lag too! ty for the response!

No matter you already have it installed but that might have corrupted like drivers get. Hence you should upgrade the Codec as well as AUDIO / VIDEO drivers as well. Get the Codec Pack 7.2 (Just search it on Google and you will get the link). Also update the drivers from the official site of your mobo's manufacturer.

ok ty! i already downloaded and installed the latest version of K lite Codec pack which is 7.2.0 but videos and music still lag a bit!

im using google chrome for playing youtube videos and VLC and WMP for downloaded videos and music!

What you can do is just start your computer in Safe Mode with Networking. Download the Malwarebytes Antimalware and after that update it. Once you are done with that then perform a quick scan and if it detects anything then you can go for the full scan. Just go to download.com and from there you will get the Malwarebytes Antimalware.
