Is it worthwhile to buy a Cinema 4D.

Actually I am looking at a 3d animation course at my college. And that is the reason why I am looking for a Cinema 4D. I had actually called the professor to ask which programs they use in the classroom and then he just replied by saying that I might need to buy something new. And then he said the only program used in the class is Cinema 4D.So can you all tell me is it worthwhile to buy a Cinema 4D.Please do get back to me as I am looking for the answers.

I just had a look at the question that you have put up and would say that I have used it and it's really good. Also I would say that your professor doesn't really know what he's talking about though as Cinema 4D is not exclusively used and this is something that I am confident about. Also it is a major player in broadcast animation but not in film and games. But in general I would say that this is something that you can really go ahead with and it will be very useful to you.

Yes I do completely agree with the solution that is being provided earlier and would say that this can be used for many other purposes as well. In addition the only version really worth getting is the expensive versions as the core cinema 4d program offers few of the features that it's liked for Mo graph, Mo dynamics which is really nice. So I guess that you can really go ahead with it without any hesitation. Also do let us know the experience after you get this.

Thanks a lot for the immediate replies. I just went through the replies that you have presented to me and it really sounds interesting that this can actually be available to me.This is the kind of replies I had actually expected and I am happy that I got such replies. Now I am really looking forward to get a new Cinema 4D as soon as possible and would also let you know the benefits of it.But if there are some more solution and suggestion to this then do reply to them as I am waiting for them.

According to me you should go ahead with it and feel that there is no problem with that .I like it's ease of use and it certainly got a learning curve to begin with than most packages. Also in addition it's built in render engine where it is not the core version but the Advanced render 3 version. And this is very power yet nice to use, certainly more so than I found with Mental Ray. As I mentioned, the physics and dynamics system is really good and even though the price is a bit high it is definitely worthwhile.

I just browsed for it and found out that although it won't match programs like MAX and Maya for sheer power but it is definitely something that can be worthwhile any day. Also personally speaking I don't like the lack of modeling tools and this is something that is not present over here. I would say that the animation is pretty similar to most other programs. But in jest I would say that it is really worthwhile and it’s something that you will enjoy a lot using it.
