Cannot install guest additions in LM10 in VirtualBox

I am functioning LM9 on a ThinkPad X60s. I was eager regarding LM10 being released, and determined this might be a fine chance to learn how to utilize VirtualBox. So I setup VirtualBox, shaped a virtual machine, and installed LM10 on it. No trouble. But after that I realized I require guest additions to utilize shared folders and get a real full screen before a 640x800 screen with vast black borders. So I installed the guest additions. IOS via VirtualBox and ran the auto install file in the .iOS. It said it unsuccessful to construct the shared folder support part. As well said an unknown version of the X Window System was setup, and it did not setup the X Window System drivers. I checked the log, and there are many examples of the error "Kernel configuration is invalid." I went further on and attempted installing once more. It said it detached the earlier guest additions, but after that my screen goes wild. Has anybody had troubles like this annoying to run LM10 virtually? Is there an uncomplicated way to get guest additions setup so I can utilize a true full screen and shared folders?

Re: Cannot install guest additions in LM10 in VirtualBox

I setup it by clicking on the "Install Guest Additions" below the "Devices" menu in VirtualBox when running LM10. It asked if I required downloading the .iOS from the internet, and I did that. After that I raised the .iOS in VB or possibly it auto mounted; don't memorize. I originally just ran the auto-install file from the .iOS. This is while a terminal came up and informed me regarding what was installing. And that is while I got the errors regarding the file sharing part and the unknown X system. While I attempted installing guest additions once more, I was certain to openly install the Linux version for x86 architectures, but except the auto-install messed up the primary time, this was possibly what the virtual machine at first attempted to setup.

Re: Cannot install guest additions in LM10 in VirtualBox

My attempt did not say anything regarding the file sharing module or X system, but it prepared the screen inside VB go insane. The crazy picture is in fact a harshly blown up and oddly distorted window. The white fraction is part of the mouse pointer. This was all complete from inside VirtualBox. Previous to annoying to install the guest additions, I did choose a shared folder for the virtual machine, just did not attempt to raise it. Could that have made anything? While I attempted to raise it despite the errors, it said a bit like: unknown file system type vboxfs. I may attempt just making a novel virtual machine and installing LM10 once more on that novel machine. I will skip the auto-install and go directly for the linux_x86 installation file, and I will not do anything with file sharing except the guest additions setup fruitfully.

Just in case somebody discovers this in Google or something else. one more solution I establish, later than I was having the exact similar trouble, was to setup VirtualBox OSE from the repositories and after that, in its place of installing guest additions from the iOS file which comes with VirtualBox, go into the package manager within the virtual Linux Mint and setup VirtualBox-ose-guest-utils, VirtualBox-ose-guest-dkms, and virtualbox-ose-guest-x12. Later than a reboot, my virtual Linux Mint was functioning completely well with all the guest additions features!
