Cannot play dvd in Ubuntu 10.04 (libdvdnav error)

I am consecutively keen on what appears to be an ordinary difficulty as of late, other than the error messages are somewhat dissimilar so I will post them at this time to discover out how I should fix this.
I go after directions from google actually I get it from there to permit dvd playback. But when I attempt to play the disc, together vlc and totem crash without an error report. Trying also one from the command line shows an (identical) error from libdvdread:

libdvdread: Invalid IFO for title 1 (VTS_01_0.IFO).
    libdvdnav: ifoOpenVTSI failed
    totem: /build/buildd/libdvdnav -4.1.3/src/vm/vm.c:1485: process_command: Assertion `0' failed.
    Aborted

So, how to fasten this? I also attempted adding the mediabuntu repositories and --reinstalling.

Unluckily, this looks as if to be a bug in libdvdnav. And still if it is not, we are not able to examine the difficulty since we do not have your DVD. So we are not able to help you.Private support requests will be discarded. So I think you get my point that what I mean to say.

All right, I come to know it is a bug inside libdvdnav (or a number of other third party library). Other than, I was thinking that maybe the vlc developers would wish for to form it out because it is contravention their software. The main cause why everybody uses VLC is for the reason that it works when all besides fails. So I will suggest that just try it.

It is hard for individuals who be acquainted in the midst of exceptionally little of the internal workings in vlc and its third revelry libraries to outline out who to get in touch with for these problems, whereas I would take for granted that some inhabitants on this list straightforwardly be acquainted with who to have a discussion to. I know only this much of so I think it will help you.

If Linux distress wants to not be substandard, subsequently how on the subject of they in fact help us in its place of relying on volunteers to work for free? Why should VLC developers fix third-party libraries? We are not the ones answerable intended for the software combination, the distros are.
