    Transcoding to MPEG-2 MP2V

I have the following problem when streaming from VLC server for Dreambox. First I had got some videos which I am planing to stream with MPEG-2 MP2V. I choose now a movie and the film will also be sent according to the DM 600, but the format will be ignored. The film is in XVID format, and has dimensions of 672x272 pixels Cinemascope. I want to also transcode some raw videos.

The MPEG-2 PS is a suitable format to be read by software. To exploit the file, it must therefore first convert in this format. VLC is very well for that. The playlist encapsulates the MPEG PS format without conversion. This new the can be used by any software for editing. However, it may happen that the third party software is sensitive to the format and the new encapsulation causes problems of no sound.

While transcoding with VLC it is possible to remove unnecessary parts. In a recording, it often happens that there falls, unwanted parts as advertising. Now that we have converted the file to mpeg-2 ps, we will be able to cut it. For this, we use MPEG2Cut . MPEG2Cut to delete portions of mpeg2 files, however, does more than cut the edges, which means you can not take a piece in the center. Therefore cutting the film into several pieces, if the film is divided by areas of advertising.

I did the same and was quiet successful in getting what I want. To reconstitute the movie, you need a software capable of assembling files, nothing is easier than using VLC again. For this, simply use the option sout-file-append: There was again no change in the format of the video, everything is identical to the beginning. The process is extremely fast.

Transcoding might cause a lot issue which can destroy your audio and video. The method of transcoding has the disadvantage of concatenation to provide a complete film but with a time count wrong. Thus, the film has the total length corresponding to the duration of the last party added. To correct this problem, you will need to move the film one last time in the blender

If you're comfortable with VLC you can use multiple manipulations, which allow you to manage all settings. The file generated by VLC might not be correct and to be read by a reader you will need a proper raw format. I saved a file from VLC and a string Free MPEG2 TS, AVI, 3072 and I managed to read it only with VirtualDubMod. Encoding to xvid then well.

VLC is also suitable for any stream files over a network. While conversion it also possible that there is a slightly damaged in the video. The main issue lies with the codecs which might not support with all the audio and video container. So on the same hand VLC updates gives you proper codec support. The library is really powerful for that. Just try the same for one video at a time.
