The advantage of this solution is that it can continue to apply any filter VLC accelerated video , and redirect the output of your choice ( display via any rendering tool , transcoding , video editor VLC ... ) . The disadvantage is that this solution seems less effective in terms of performance, especially with GPUs from AMD. According to information we can gather , this problem had been encountered by the teams of Adobe during the development Flash 10.1, which also operates the GPU for decoding HD video encoded in H.264 .

The step of retrieving data within the GPU is more complex than NVIDIA and demand the establishment of a specific solution. For now the teams VLC have decided to through the function MOVNTDQA introduced in SSE 4.1, to make things better , which is not optimal. In effect , this limits the functioning of the application to Processors compatible. We of course linked the developers of VLC with teams AMD which appear to have indicated a more viable solution for data recovery within VLC.

The support is unfortunately not complete, as noted by the project team open source. Windows, " VideoLAN is rather sad to have to recommend GPUs NVIDIA , until ATI not fixes their drivers and the developers from accessing the Intel components . Mac OS X is for the time simply did not concern while Windows XP is not planned. VLC 1.1 introduces also a new environment of extensions, "very simple ", as found in browsers modern , which should allow enrich easily the reader multimedia news features. Among other hundreds of new features and minor fixes , VLC Media Player 1.1 finally brings support for the format WebM Google, multichannel audio formats in 7.1 , improves management of metadata and album art and improves the plugins internet browsers .

GPU -Z will display many information about your graphics card. The software indicates then the name of the GPU, its frequency, its revision, its fine engraving , the number of ROPs , the number of shaders , or support DirectX. It takes advantage of the output recent HD5870 and HD5850 ATI to be compatible with. Similarly , TechPowerUp ! also take this opportunity to detect some new hardware and fix various bugs. This new version brings in addition a system Extensions similar to browsers to allow any developer to include its own features , but also support new codecs and video formats / audio ( VP8 , DVB HD Atrac1 , AMR , WMA Voice.
