Re: Windows update code 646 for update

This issue is happening when window installer is getting an error. Error codes 0x80070646 and 646 are generated by Windows Installer. These errors indicate that generic Windows Installer has faced a problem. When you face the errors described in the "Symptoms" section, the problem may be caused by an incorrect value in the registry.

To automatically update the relevant registry keys, click the button in the section "Help me" . If you prefer to check and update these keys yourself, see "I solve the problem myself" . This wizard can exist only in English. However, the automatic resolution also works for other language versions of Windows. If you are not currently using the computer on which this problem occurs, you can save the automatic resolution on a flash drive or CD-ROM and then execute on the computer being the problem.

Re: Windows update code 646 for update

I am using windows 7 and I have followed these steps for solving the problem.
    1. Click Start, and then in the Search box, type regedit.
    2. In the list of programs, click the right mouse button on Regedit.exe, and then click Run as administrator.
    3. Locate the registry subkey Next, then click:

    HKEY_USERS \. DEFAULT \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders
    4. In the details pane of the Registry Editor, locate AppData. The value of this key should be% USERPROFILE% \ AppData \ Roaming.
    5. If the value is not set to% USERPROFILE% \ AppData \ Roaming, right-click on AppData in the details pane, then click Edit.
    6. Type% userprofile% \ AppData \ Roaming in the Value data box, then click OK.
    7. Close the Registry Editor.
    8. Try to reinstall the update. If the problem persists, repeat this procedure but using the registry subkeys following rather than specified in Step 3:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders

I am going to make repair disk errors, but I do not think it comes from here. I have already turned him full of shit with mbam, this may be the cause, understand nothing good has it come to this bouricot install vista. Even when I have less worry with my good old xp!! Now it has offered me the vista sp2, I would not mind if you are installing it.

I have followed these steps for solving the problem and I will suggest you to do same.
    1. First thing you have to do is to go to Microsoft Download center
    2. Then you have to search for the updated code that is starting with the letter “KB” and this code will be followed by some numbers.
    3. After that you have to click on the link that is given for download and then install that download.
    4. You need to repeat these steps for all the available updates.
    5. After that you just need to run Microsoft update.
