Run any apps off a USB drive?

Hey, guys, do you have the experience of running your daily used apps off a USB drive?

Which is I am now trying to do. But I find that only portable apps can be run like that.

while some apps like MS office are not portably available. How can I do that?

It is bette if you search for portable applications. Then you might found some antivirus solution or any control manager which runs from your pen drive. There are some sites which offers you application almost for anything like mails, office, etc. You can download and try out the same. It is basically easy to find antivirus and firewall solution for the same.

    Thanks.

The main reason I want to do is conveninetly making apps including MS office portable.

So portable apps seems not to work for MS office.

I think I will give a try on prayaya, some virtulisation ware I just found.

I know a way out on how to install apps on Usb Drives, they have to be from the list on the Portable Apps site. I can't just install, say - WinZip - even though it states on their site that you can install other applications other than the ones in their list. So I installed those that I will use the most - AbiWord, 7-Zip, FileZilla, and of course Firefox and Thunderbird. However, you cannot install office to a removable drive and have it work, least of all on a different computer. Too many registry entries and DLL registrations are performed for proper operation.

    Hi wonkotheinsane,

Thats great man, how did you do that, can you explain in details by writing the full step by step method on how to run MS office on USB drive with the help of prayaya? Do you think we can also install different versions of the Ms Office suite on the usb drive, thanks for writing up in advance.

Well. glad that it is helpful. I am also new on that. and I just installed MS office 2003 suite on it and it works perfect. however I am not sure of other versions.

Here is what I have done. maybe you can follow and try to install other versions by yourself.

Just keep in mind that prayaya is just like a virtulisation app on your USB, you just condiser it as a virtual Windows system. Then you may be more clear.

1 download prayaya and install it on any USB drive.

2 directly install MS office on this newley installed "windows system". Just you install any other app on your real Windows system.

3 after sucessful installation. you can hook up your USB with any PC, and run it.

sorry, a little simple. hope it works for you.
