    Lenticular Printing

I have got a new project for which i want to make a poster of 18" x 24" so i guess it would be needing a lenticular printing about which i just do not know anything. Can you guys help me to know about it and how do i do it? And where can i find a vendor which helps me to do this?

    Re: Lenticular Printing

Lenticular Printing is a method by which normally flat, static images can convey depth and motion. The "magic" of the image is an optical illusion created by a plastic sheet covered with many rows of tiny lenses. The other ingredient in lenticular printing is the image. An image must be specially prepared to match the lens. This image usually starts as multiple images. These images are interlaced together; that is they are sliced up into strips and blended together into one image. The size of these strips is determined by the lenticular lens that will be used, and the resolution of the printing device.

The printing process Lenticular is slowly returning to the front of the stage. Innovation originality and relief are the characteristics attributed to this technique . The latter takes its name from the material used to achieve its effect : lenticular plastic . This material to be printed consists of thin parallel lenses showing an image different depending on the position of the observer.

    Re: Lenticular Printing

Lenticular printing is an innovative process for to get an effective relief without another tool than the eye. This effect of relief is achieved through two components :
    • the optical selector or Lenticular PlasticComposed of fine parallel lenses ;
    • thephotoemulsion or Master, sequential juxtaposition images.

The images are decomposed into thin strips which are then interwoven which means that there would be a band of an image 1 and band Image 2, etc. Once placed and viewed through the lenticular material , the effect of relief is visible.

The optical switch developed by Maurice Bonnet, better known today as Lenticular Plastic, is a network of semi -spherical lenses of the same optical characteristics (same refractive index n) , arranged in parallel to form a plate transparent. Each elementary cylinder (lens) in the network is called duckweed. Juxtaposition the form of duckweed lenticular who gave his name , by extension , the process itself.

    Re: Lenticular Printing

Printing directly onto the stage eliminates delicate lamination of plastic film on the lenticular. In the case of direct printing on plastic , the image must be returned on the form printer , the printing being done on the smooth side of the plastic but observed side splined. The traditional offset printing is used in 90% of lenticular printing . A conventional offset press is suitable for direct printing on plastic , however it is necessary to adapt it to the printing thermoplastic materials .
    • The lenticular plastic , even if it is not very thick heavier than normal paper : an additional cord is advisable to facilitate the aspiration of plastic on the feed table.
    • 6 printing units are recommended to conduct a single pass printing master ( mirror image ), then printing a opaque white to limit the effect of transparency.

To facilitate drying of ink and make it better resistance on the medium, it is recommended to use UV dryers Instantly set the ink with the polymerization .

I have not seen the video yet, but it will be great if Photoshop can handle lenticular itself. Normally, we use Photoshop to do the preparation work and then use the third party software to handle the interlacing.
We must be the change we want to see

The flip effect is the most commonly used . It is to show successively a first image, then a second image. The lens system is oriented horizontally so that all bands of the same picture can be seen at the same time by both eyes.
The3D effect is to create a virtual third dimension with the interpretation by the brain : The right eye sees one image while the left eye see one another. The lenticular screen is oriented vertically.

The animation view is to turn a set of plans which because of their relatively large number ( 15 to 64 shots ) seem movement. The number of plans that can be inserted in the animation depends on the resolution of the lens array ( pitch ) and the resolution imaging system . Example : with a 75 LPI lens , it is possible of up to 64 images with a 4800 dpi imagesetter ( 64 x 75 = 4800 ) . Each plan must be seen successively in full : an image , then image 2, and image 3 , etc. The lens system must be oriented horizontally.
