CS4 Bug issue with selection tool

I have a desktop machine and it is been installed with Windows Xp. I have installed Adobe CS4 application to the system. The problem that I face is that when I use a selection some random sized box appear before dragging and while releasing the mouse button to define a selection. It would be better if you could help me out for sorting the issue and make the proper change.
