    Application freezes in the M17X

    Hello friends,
I have Alienware M17X which is 6 months old which came with Vista 64 bit. Now I have install Windows 7 Pro 64 bit in it. It don't have any problem for starting. After sometimes most of the application in my computer starts freezing and it takes 3-4 minutes to come back to normal position. I don't know why most of the application freezes in the M17X. Anyone else having the same problem. Please help me.
    Thank you.

I think you have to test your computer's memory to see whether is any problem or not. To do this you have to use memtest86. Memtest86 is a thorough, stand alone memory test for x86 architecture computers. BIOS based memory tests are a quick, cursory check and often miss many of the failures that are detected by Memtest86. You can get this from official site from the "memtest86".

I think your Anti-Virus is continuously running at background and it slow up your computer. I think due to this your all application freezes at same time. In this case try to disable that anti-virus for some time and lets see whether you get the same problem or not. If you didn't get same error it means that your Anti-Virus is responsible for this problem. In this case just remove that Anti-Virus to fix this problem.

From your information it seems that Windows 7 is doesn't compatible with your computer and that's why all your application freezes in the M17X. In this case try to install old Operating System like Vista or XP. After installing one of these Operating System, if you didn't get such type of error message, then it means that Windows 7 is doesn't compatible with your laptop. So in the future never install Windows 7 in your computer.

I also had the same problem. After some times I come to know that it is due to AVG antivirus. Then I uninstall this antivirus and install Microsoft Security Essentials in my computer. After that I don't have any problem. I think you also use Microsoft Security Essentials to fix this problem.
Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.
Microsoft Security Essentials is a free download from Microsoft that is simple to install, easy to use, and always kept up to date so you can be assured your PC is protected by the latest technology. It’s easy to tell if your PC is secure — when you’re green, you’re good.

You have to check at the following.
First click on Start button -> Now go to Control Panel option -> Now go to System and Security option -> Now go to System option -> Now go Performance Information and Tools option -> now choose Advanced tools option and under "Performance issues" check for the same problem that you are having.
