iTunes 9.0 stops responding while syncing Ipod

Hello people, I have an Apple 80gb classic Ipod which I connect to the computer which is running on Windows XP. I used to use Itunes 8.0 on my computer to synchronize the Ipod and all worked really well but the problem started when I upgraded the itunes from version 8.0 to version 9. Now whenever I connect the Ipod to the computer to synchronize some songs, the itunes stops responding. Only two or three songs get synchronized and then itunes will not respond. This happens everytime I connect the Ipod to the computer. So if anybody knows why iTunes 9.0 stops responding while syncing Ipod then please let me know the solution. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you to check the USB cord which is used to connect the Ipod to the computer. The USB cord which is used to connect the device consist of lines of conductors which can easily get damaged due to improper storage and handling. Also the connectors of the connecting cord get oxidized. If such a situation occurs then the cord will not be able to maintain the connectivity of the device with the computer. Therefore change the connecting cord and see if the Itunes stops responding while syncing the Ipod or not.

I was also facing similar problems with Itunes 9.0 when I installed it on the computer. It seems their is some problem with the version due to which it stops responding while synchronizing. To solve the problem I removed the Itunes 9.0 from the computer and installed itunes version 8.0 on it. Uninstall the current installed version of Itunes from the computer and remove all the files/keys associated to it. Once all the traces of the application are removed, download the itunes version 8 and install it on the computer. After installing Itunes 8 check if the Itunes stops responding or not.

Working of the Ipod depends on the software which is installed on it. Like anyother software, the operating system of the Ipod can also get stuck. If the operating system of the Ipod gets stuck then it will not get detected on the computer. To solve this software loop problems you will have to reset the Ipod. To reset the Ipod, press and hold the menu and center click button. Keep the buttons pressed till an Apple logo appears. As soon as the apple logo appears, release the button and then let the ipod start normally. Then connect the Ipod to the computer and see if the Ipod gets synchronized or not

Re: iTunes 9.0 stops responding while syncing Ipod

It is possible that the upgradation of the itunes which you carried out encountered some problems due to which you are facing such problems while synchronizing the Ipod. Whenever any software is upgraded, all the files which are related to the older version are replaced by the files of the new version. If all the files of the old version are not replaced by the files of the new version then software will not work properly as files will not be compatible. Carry out the upgrade procedure again and see to it that all the files of the previous version are replaced by the files of the new version.

The firmware of the Ipod can also get corrupt and can create problems while synchronizing of the data on it. Take the Ipod to the nearest apple service center and then get the firmware of the Ipod upgraded. Once the firmware of the Ipod is upgraded, connect the Ipod to the computer and then synchronize it. Before connecting the Ipod to the computer, open the Itunes and remove the check mark from the option which says "Open Itunes when Ipod is connected" and save the settings.
