It is quite very much a usual problem that many does face when the color of the background and the text does match up. Change the background color to white and the text color to black. There might be an issue related to the iWorks 08 pack that you are using. It would be better if you uninstall the current pack that you have and then install the software again. This will help the application to get out of the bugs that has been appended and may then result in working of the texts to be visible. Make the settings for the application to default settings. This will help you out.

You need to delete the preference for the pages that has been assigned or allocated. This can be done by navigating through your home folder to the library section and then to the preferencescom.apple.iworks.pages.plist. After it is been done move the thing to the desktop and then launch the page. This would then result in creation o a new preference. Hope this should work out for you.

A virus may have been affecting the system. It is quite possible that MAc can get prone to viruses too. So such vulnerabilities may have been caused due to such issue. It would be god that you use a good scanning tool for Mac and thus making the system free from viruses. This has to be considered and cannot be neglected. ClamXav, Iantivirus are some of the application tools for Mac operating system in order to scan for viruses.
