    Vmware server Vs Virtual pc

I've been using Virtual PC 2007 for a few months, and it works great with Microsoft operating systems (obviously) but i need to know about VMWare server. If i go with Linux, I think it might work better with VMWare. Can any one tell me how does VMWare server compares to VPC 2007?

VMWare server also provide a support for the operating system apart from the microsoft operating systems if needed. VMWare server is only for running existing VMs. It doesn't have the ability to create new ones. Virtual PC may be free, but VMware is still better (for all the reasons I’ve previously explained). If all you want to do is test software, then I suppose Virtual PC is perfect – but if you’re looking for full power and compatibility, you have to look far beyond what Microsoft is handing out.

Decent VM software also allows some exchange between the host machine (the real one) and the virtual one. VMware completed the SuperPI test 6 seconds faster than Virtual PC. VMware Player has been open-sourced for both Windows and Linux, as has modified source for VMware Server and VMware Workstation. If you encounter a bug, you can switch back to the host, correct the code, and send an updated executable back for further testing.

Parallels, in fact, is a Virtual Machine that lets run Windows/Linux on Macs. VMware allows devices to be recognized by the guest OS. I have been using it for a long time so far and I'm very pleased with the performance. It is not very fast if you have little RAM, but with two Gigs Windows runs at almost native speed.

Vmware Save time from having to install 3rd party applications – perhaps you have applications installed on your Virtual PC / Server machines already.VMware Server is a nice product that has some great methods for creating, managing and deploying virtual machines. By importing these to VMware, you can save the time it would have to have to reinstall those applications.

For free virtualization, you can't go wrong with the VMware or MS product. They both work great and let you install and boot VMs all day long. Users of VMware Server's internal utilities can preserve (and revert to) a single snapshot copy of each separate virtual machine within their VMware Server environment.
